Lithium Battery Safe Transportation Tips from China Eastern Airlines

1. Portable lithium battery: It can be used as a hand luggage to carry a portable electronic device such as a notebook computer, mobile phone, camera, etc. with no more than 100Wh lithium battery and a spare battery to board the passenger aircraft.

2. Restricted lithium batteries: With the approval of the airline, you can carry electronic equipment that exceeds (including) 100Wh but does not exceed 160Wh lithium battery. Each passenger carrying such spare lithium batteries must not exceed two and cannot be checked.

3. Lithium batteries that are forbidden to carry

It is forbidden to carry or consign large lithium batteries or electronic equipment exceeding 160Wh (except for wheelchairs equipped with lithium-ion batteries, please refer to the instructions for handling the wheelchair passenger services of China Eastern Airlines).

4. Lithium battery protection measures

The backup battery must be individually protected against short circuits (insert the original retail packaging or otherwise insulate the electrodes, such as tape on exposed electrodes or place each battery in a separate plastic bag or protective case)

5. Requirements for consignment of electric wheelchairs

If you need to check in an electric wheelchair, for the safety of you and other passengers, please be sure to pay attention to the following:

1 If you are carrying an electric wheelchair, you need to arrive at the airport 2 hours in advance of the flight to contact our staff for check-in.

2 Please pay attention to the following packaging requirements:

When an electric wheelchair is consigned, its packaging should meet the following requirements:

(a) A wheelchair with a leak-proof battery is required to ensure that the battery is not short-circuited and safely installed in a wheelchair; if the battery can be disassembled, the battery must be removed and carried in a sturdy rigid package for delivery. The luggage is stored in the cargo hold.

(b) Wheelchairs with spill-over batteries: the batteries must be removed and placed in a sturdy, rigid package. The package should be leak-proof to ensure that the batteries are not short-circuited and filled with suitable absorbent material to absorb any Leaking liquid.

(c) Wheelchairs with lithium-ion batteries:

Passengers must remove the battery and carry the battery into the cabin; the rated watt hours of each battery must not exceed 300Wh; if the battery is equipped with 2 batteries, the rated watt hours of each battery must not exceed 160Wh; It can carry a spare battery with a rated watt-hour of not more than 300Wh, or two spare batteries with a rated watt-hour of not more than 160Wh.
